SpareRents Prohibited Items Policy Version 3 — Open Public Beta, effective September 6, 2026. This policy is incorporated into the SpareRents Terms and Conditions, which control if there is any conflict. No lawyer has reviewed it. SpareRents is operated by Techtonic LLC. Questions: djays1618@gmail.com NOT ALLOWED AT LAUNCH Weapons and weapon-related items: firearms, ammunition, explosives, tasers, pepper spray and mace, switchblades and similar items. Medical and health-regulated: medical devices, prescription drugs, controlled substances and other health-regulated products. Vehicles: cars, trucks, motorcycles and other road vehicles that ordinarily require vehicle registration or automotive insurance. Heavy equipment: skid steers, excavators, compact loaders, trenchers and similar heavy construction machinery. High-injury tools: chainsaws, log splitters and similar high-injury cutting or splitting equipment. High-heat and fire equipment: welding equipment, torches, plasma cutters and similar. Life-safety equipment: fall-arrest harness systems, technical climbing life-safety gear, lifelines, rescue gear, critical anchors, used impact helmets, fit-critical respirators and similar life-safety PPE. Electrical: high-voltage equipment and tools intended for energized high-voltage work. Ordinary low-voltage and basic electrical tools remain allowed. Surveillance and security misuse: covert surveillance equipment intended for non-consensual use, unlawful GPS tracking equipment, lock-picking and lock-bypass tools, access-control defeat tools and credential-theft equipment. Hazardous goods: fireworks, pyrotechnics, explosives, hazardous chemicals and specialty compressed-gas equipment. Alcohol-related rental equipment: kegerators, beer taps, portable bars, wine coolers and cocktail machines. Tobacco, vaping, cannabis and recreational drug-related equipment. Adult and sexual products and equipment. Live animals: no live animal may be rented, boarded, transported or listed. Ordinary pet equipment is allowed. Also prohibited: powered watercraft including jet skis; powered lifts; bounce houses and inflatables; large stages, grandstands, suspended rigging and structures needing engineering or professional installation; car seats, cribs, bassinets and child restraints; jackhammers, large industrial compressors and high-pressure industrial systems; industrial, agricultural, heavy-payload and specialized professional drones. ALLOWED WITH RESTRICTIONS Trailers: the renter confirms their tow vehicle is rated and equipped; the lender verifies obvious hitch, ball, chain and light compatibility; either party may refuse handoff if the setup looks unsafe. SpareRents does not certify a towing setup. E-bikes, scooters and golf carts: the renter affirms compliance with applicable age, helmet, licensing, road-use and local rules. Watercraft: ordinary non-motorized craft such as kayaks and canoes. Height access: ordinary ladders and basic non-powered scaffolding. Common powered tools: drills, sanders, many pressure washers and common home or shop power tools. Gas-powered equipment: lower-risk equipment such as lawn mowers and leaf blowers. Pneumatic equipment: ordinary lower-risk pneumatic and shop tools. Event equipment: tables, chairs, ordinary tents and canopies, temporary fencing, portable lighting and ordinary lower-risk party equipment. Child equipment: lower-risk items such as strollers and high chairs. PPE: lower-risk items such as gloves, hearing protection, basic protective clothing and ordinary non-critical eye protection. Drones: small consumer or recreational drones, with compliance acknowledgments. ENFORCEMENT We may remove or suspend a listing, restrict a category, require documentation, and suspend or ban accounts for prohibited listings. Category rules may change; changes apply to future listings and bookings. HOW THIS IS ENFORCED: listings are screened against these categories by our servers when they are created, edited and published, and flagged listings are held for review.
